Farmer’s Market Field Trip

July 31, 2010

A rare and wonderful thing happened at my house this morning.  Two of the kids spent the night on Grandma’s and Grandpa’s boat and my husband and oldest went out for a father/daughter breakfast before she went to work.  I was alone in my house.  On a Saturday morning.  With no place I had to be.  Unheard of, right?  SO… I looked around and saw the dirty dishes that needed to be put in the dishwasher, the mess on the dining room table (this tends to be our “holding” spot for “stuff” – bad habit.  Hard to break.), and the general clutter that needed corralling and did the only thing any self respecting woman would do.

I put the dog in the kennel – sorry Roman,

grabbed my purse and keys, and fled the scene as fast as I could.  I had a Farmer’s Market to get to.  Now I know that we have some great Farmer’s Markets around my hood, but I had a few hours to myself, people.  That meant I could put a few extra miles on the car.  Yep.  I left my lovely Northern suburb and headed south across the river to the Prior Lake Farmer’s Market.

My friend ChrisAnn had been telling me how great it was and I have been wanting to check it out.  But, I confess, I also had an ulterior motive.  I wanted to get a peek at Camille on Rouge beforeLoveFeast Table’s next Blog Love event there.  Cute shop.

I have been looking for some finishing touches for my daughter’s bedroom makeover and I was hoping to find something at Camille’s shop.  And I’m very excited to say that I did.

As a matter of fact, I ended up picking up a fair number of goodies at this wonderful market.

There would have been a wonderful strawberry-rhubarb muffin from Cocoa & Fig but hunger got the best of me.  Hey, a girl’s gotta eat.  Especially when she’s shopping.

You’ll be happy to know that it was both beautiful and delectable! :)

What a successful trip.  I picked up some healthy, homegrown, veggies;

some awesome finds for finishing the bedroom makeover;

Some delicious breakfast(the muffin of course); some yummy fudge for a future desert;

and a present for a family member to boot! (Sorry.  I can’t show you that.  Said family member might see.)

Oh, and I almost forgot.  Since I was on her side of the river, I called up ChrisAnn and said “Girlfriend, drop everything and come shopping with me!”  And lucky me, she did!

It was a good morning.  Thanks shops and vendors.  Now I can face those dishes with a smile.  Well, okay, sort of a smile.

Love the blog world! There’s my friend with her friend (that’s you) at a Farmer’s Market. So fun! Never known Chris Ann to turn down a shopping trip!
